Our German Manufacturers' History

Discover the history of HBC-radiomatic from 1947 to the present day.

In 1947, Huber and Brendel founded a radio technology laboratory in Crailsheim, Germany.

Their new venture in post-World War II Germany would go on to flourish into a global brand, with 6 HBC subsidiaries and more than 40 partner companies worldwide, of which HBC-radiomatic (UK) Limited is proudly one.

1947: Huber & Brendel founded in Crailsheim.

1950: Introduction of the Portafon 6, the first portable radio-telephone for civil use in Germany at the radio tradeshow in Düsseldorf.

1963: Introduction of the first radio-controlled storm warning system at Lake Constance.

1968: Presentation of the first HBC radio remote control for cranes.

1975: Introduction of the first HBC radio remote control for hazardous
areas.

1979: Premiere of the first HBC radio system with microprocessor control.

1981: Presentation of the first HBC radio remote control for construction cranes.

1983: First HBC radio remote control for concrete pumps.

1986: HBC first offers a proportional radio control.

1986: The classic joystick transmitter series spectrum is launched.

1988: HBC presents the world’s first radio control with “tandem operation” and “catch-release”.

1989: Presentation of the first HBC radio remote control for loader cranes and truck-mounted cranes.

1991: The classic pushbutton control series micron is released.

1993: HBC first offers a feedback system with LCD display.

1998: Foundation of HBC-radiomatic France in La Wantzenau, France.

Foundation of HBC-radiomatic, Inc. in Cincinnati, USA.

2000: Premiere of the patrol series for the wireless control of forestry
winches.

2003: Foundation of HBC-radiomatic Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH in
Dortmund, Germany.

2004: Foundation of HBC-radiomatic Ibérica S.L. in Barcelona, Spain.

2005: Start of the world’s first automatic frequency management system radiomatic® AFM.

2005: Foundation of HBC-radiomatic Schweiz AG in Neuenhof, Switzerland.

2007: The technos transmitter series is launched.

2007: Opening of the new HBC components production facility in
Crailsheim.

2010: HBC presents radio controls with a configurable colour display.

2011: Premiere of the new operating concept pilot: radio control by hand movement.

2012: Large-scale expansion of HBC’s 2.4 GHz technology.

2013: Presentation of the radiomatic® photon camera assistant, the first live image transmission system from HBC.

2013: Foundation of HBC-radiomatic India Pvt. Ltd. in Pune, India.

2014: Presentation of the merlin® service concept for maximum
flexibility when using HBC radio controls.

2017: HBC celebrates its 70th company anniversary.

2019: Premiere of the new spectrum generation with 5" display technology.

2019: HBC presents the first radio system that can be combined with
virtual reality glasses.

2020: Introduction of the new TC7 RF technology.

2020: Foundation of HBC-radiomatic Benelux B.V. in Tilburg / Netherlands.

2022: HBC celebrates its 75th company anniversary.
